Tip of the Month for October
Participate in the 1000 Acts of Kindness Challenge
See article below from the Sentinel Review
A campaign to fill the city of Woodstock Ontario with kindness got off to a quiet start Saturday.
"The aim of the campaign is to bring some lightheartedness to the community," said Linda Armstrong, a member of the Oxford Domestic Assault Review Team (DART). "Our hope is people will challenge every one to do 1,000 acts of kindness through the month," she said.
The campaign is meant to encourage people to perform 1,000 small acts of kindness for friends, family and strangers in the month of October.
The campaign comes after a painful year marked by a number of high-profile crimes and tragedies. On Oct. 14, people are encouraged to wear purple as a symbol of their support for victims of child abuse, Armstrong said.
The event is co-sponsored by DART and 104.7 Heart FM. Organizers have published a calendar that includes suggested acts of kindness.
"If you do one act of kindness, somebody might feel the need to do another," said Diane Harris of Ingamo Family Homes. "We want the community to feel the warmth of kindness."
Oxford DART is a countywide organization made up of 18 member agencies that serve victims of domestic violence and violence against women.
So whether you are a fellow Woodstonian or else where in the community... I challenge to you to the 1000 acts of kindness.
